Canadian Sports Fishing
Fishing in Canada is more than a tradition, it is a way of life. And lucky for us it is a way of life that is filled with excitement, good catches, and great people.
Canada has some of the best fresh water and salt water fishing you can find anywhere.
On both coasts you can wrestle massive salmon, and in British Columbia you can add in huge Pacific Halibut as well as more whales and eagles than you can count.
In the North you can try your hands at monster Pike and Walleye. I know from years of fishing in northern Saskatchewan that 20+ pound Pike and 10+ pound Walleye are very common. Of course Pike and Walleye fishing in Ontario and Northern Quebec is also fantastic.
In the far north you can try your skills on the ellusive inconnou or Arctic Greyling, both of which are great fun to catch as is Northwest Territories Arctic Char. These all fight like crazy and are great eating too (although catch and release is always good too).
Southern Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes offer some decent bass and panfish if that’s what you’re into and in the great lakes there is fantastic Salmon, steelhead, and brown trout fishing (almost as good as the west coast).
Overall it doesn’t really matter where you are in Canada you will be able to go fishing within a few minutes of nearly any home and have a decent day of fishing. Of course getting out of the major centers just a bit will make you day all that much better.
Get out there and have some good, safe, and fun fishing.
